How V2Market is tackling system efficiency
V2Market is an innovative service to incorporate EV batteries into the electricity system as storage and flexible capacity using Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Vehicle-to-Building (V2B) technology. Àrea Metropolitana Barcelona (AMB), which comprises 36 municipalities, will test the V2Market service in real market conditions.
The role of electric vehicles (EVs) in flexibility markets
Since 2021, V2Market, the innovative service to incorporate EV batteries into the electricity system as storage and flexibility capacity, has explored the possibilities that Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), Vehicle-to-Building (V2B) and bidirectional (V2H) technologies can contribute the wholesale and local electricity markets in Spain and Europe.
V2Market – 2022 Events
Throughout 2022, V2Market took part in some of the most important and innovative events driving the clean energy transition. This provided a unique opportunity to discuss with a wide audience the importance of bidirectional charging and flexibility services that electric vehicles can provide to the power system.
The V2M concludes the first market study to commercialise the joint use of V2B and V2G services
This information will be used by the V2Market project to identify ways through which to make Vehicle-to-Building (V2B) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) services affordable, accessible, and beneficial to all. Simultaneously, it will showcase and quantify how V2B/V2G can boost environmental sustainability and emerge as an economically profitable business opportunity for electric vehicle (EV) owners, fleet managers, energy retailers, grid operators, energy communities, ESCos and aggregators.
Towards a smarter and more efficient energy system across Europe
To succeed in limiting global warming and increasing energy security, SmartSPIN, NEON and V2Market – three European funded projects – want to contribute to moving away from fossil fuels to a more energy efficient and flexible energy system with increased shares of renewable energy across Europe. EU policies and investments must play an important role in facilitating the energy transition.
The importance of Vehicle-to-Grid and Vehicle-to-Building for the energy efficiency sector
“The electric vehicle as an engine for access to demand flexibility markets” was the main topic of the conference organized by ANESE on the 15th of June 15 in GENERA, with the support of V2Market, the project that values energy efficiency and demand flexibility using Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Vehicle-to-Building (V2B) technologies.
